SME GmbH was founded in 1998 by Mr. Lothar Waldmann in Rauschenberg (Hesse) as the successor company to MEC GmbH. Since 2004, new entrepreneurial goals have been set and the company philosophy clearly defined:

Following this concept, we have been able to position ourselves strongly in selected markets during the last few years and develop into a well-known and reliable business partner in Northern Europe. Our continuous entrepreneurial growth is based on long-term partnerships with our customers.
These include both large corporations and medium-sized companies from all industrial segments that shape the Northern European economy: Mechanical, medical, transport, energy and electrical engineering.

To ensure excellent customer service, we have set ourselves the following goals:
- All customer queries are answered within 24 hours.
- All orders are confirmed within 48 hours.
- Our delivery accuracy is over 97%.
- The number of incorrect deliveries per month is less than 1 (i.e. less than 0.25%).
- All complaints are answered within 24 hours. Complaints are not only settled quickly as part of our continuous optimisation process, but are also generally properly documented and analysed to prevent future errors.
- Every employee is responsible for a swift and clear flow of information in accordance with the clearly regulated business processes.
